About

I have constructed this blog in the form of a dialogue. A fictional person asks a “question” which I attempt to “answer”. I respond with a series of reflections and questions of my own. It is intended to be a psychologically-minded exploration of human dilemmas which occur and re-occur. It might be of use to someone NOT inclined to see a therapist yet grappling with “issues” frequently discussed in treatment. I have tried to focus on themes of general concern and to archive them so that the reader can easily access any relevant topics.

Every effort has been made to keep information from former or current patients completely confidential.

My cyberspace reflections are not a substitute for the specific interventions that would be a part of a real therapeutic relationship. The views expressed are mine alone. They do not represent one theoretical orientation. However, I hope to demonstrate the “down-to-earth”, practical and “here and now” quality of my own psychological bent.

I believe that all skilful clinicians are good listeners. They are trained to help their patients get to the “heart of the matter”. Wisdom is the outcome of struggles to arrive at inner truths. Therapy is but one path of many.
